General Meeting 2003
The autumn general meeting was held on 11th October 2003 in the School of Nursing at Whitechapel. Rosemary MacCaulay chaired the day which focused on HIV and AIDS. The speakers have promised their papers for the next issue of 'The Review'. Meanwhile a summary of the key points and some of the answers to member's questions is available on this site. Sarah Ellis of the Graham Hayton Unit (out patient care) provided an overview and Rachel Thomas of Frederick Andrews Ward (in-patient care) described the nursing care for patients with an opportunistic infection. In the afternoon David Laddenheim, a pharmacist, provided an overview of drug therapy and Brett Scott , Clinical Nurse Specialist, described some of the mental health issues for patients with HIV.
The 72nd Annual General Meeting
The meeting was held at Whitechapel on 26th April 2003. Iona Leith McGregor, Colonel Commandant QARANC talked of her army career since qualifying at The London. Captain Karen Garner then described how service with the QARANC had developed including the use of field hospitals in Saudi Arabia and Bosnia. The church service was followed by the Annual General Meeting. The Membership List for 2003 is being revised.

General Meeting 2002
The autumn general meeting was held on 12th October 2002 in the School of Nursing at Whitechapel. This was the anniversary of the death of Edith Cavell and at 11.00 there was a minutes silence as a wreath was being laid by a member of the League Executive and a Royal London Hospital sister at the statue in St Martin's Lane. Jonathan Evans, the Archivist, provided an overview of the newly refurbished Royal London Hospital Archives and Museum. A short overview with photographs is available on this website. Peggy Crispin (nee Job) described the development of the nursing archives and new items about Edith Cavell. In the afternoon two large groups of members visited the museum and archives, returning to the School to hear Jonathan Asbridge describe the role of the Nursing and Midwifery Council.

The 71st Annual General Meeting
The AGM was held on Saturday 20th April 2002 in the School of Nursing at Whitechapel. Barbara Thompson introduced the speakers in the morning: Clare Murrell, Acting Head of Nursing, Cancer Services, based at St Bartholomew's Hospital described the patient's path from referral to post-bone marrow transplantation care. She presented the last three year's results and outlined the developments in treatment and nursing care. Emily Okukenu, Transfusion Nurse Specialist, provided a brief history of the use of blood transfusion and went on to discuss current problems with a diminishing supply of blood at a time when use was increasing. General Meeting 2001
The autumn general meeting was held on 13 October 2001. Baroness Caroline Cox (Set 360) talked about her work. It is hoped to carry a full report in the next Review. The Royal Worcester coaster to celebrate the first 70 years was on sale at the meeting.
Celebration lunch
A celebration buffet-lunch to mark 70 years of the League was held on 25 July 2001. More details under 'Recent news' and pictures.
The 70th Annual General Meeting
The AGM was held at The Royal London in Whitechapel on 21st April 2001.The morning was spent on Control of Infection services. Short reports on the Trust and the School of Nursing and Midwifery were given. The full paper and reports are in Review No. 70 which was sent out to members in early August.

General meeting 2000
The Autumn meeting was held on 7th October 2000 in the School of Nursing at Whitechapel. The topic for the day was Support Services. Sara Pearson introduced the speakers: Sarah Mudd described Advocacy and Community Relations, Ian Jones gave the History and a Current Overview of Dietetics and Melanie Adams a Speech and Language Therapist described current practice.
A sale of Millennium china, from the Royal Worcester China Company and marked with the League of Nurses badge, was a great success.

The 69th Annual General Meeting
The AGM was held on 15th April 2000, the accompanying programme was 'Past, Present and Future'. It started with an overview of the nursing uniforms illustrated by replica and actual dresses, worn by members of the Executive. Miss Margaret Stevenson gave a humourous commentary to this 'fashion parade'. Alison Knapp then described the present nursing activities and plans for the future at The Royal London as:
- challenge
- complexity
- change.

A Millennium celebration lunch was held in Whitechapel in July
General Meeting 1999
The General Meeting held on Saturday 9th October 1999 included sessions on Paediatric Services. There was a raffle, books for sale and the Millennium gift ware.
The 68th Annual General Meeting
The AGM was held at the Royal London in Whitechapel on Saturday 17th April 1999. In the morning Ray Pett, the Chief Executive of The Royal Hospitals NHS Trust, talked about changes in the Trust and Jonathan Asbridge, the Chief Nurse, described recent nursing developments. Alison Knapp, on behalf of Anna Banfield, Deputy Dean, gave a short report on nursing education. The two nursing talks were published in the Review 68.
